2015 Spring Conference in Malmö, Sweden, June 3 – June 5

Spring Conference was held in Malmö, Sweden, hosted by Trust and their representatives Eva Carloni and Petra Johnsson. The program included visits to both Malmö and in the neighboring Copenhagen across the Oresund.

Malmö, the third largest city in Sweden is the commercial centre of southern Sweden and an international city. This is expressed, not least, by the fact that Malmö has 300 000 residents from approximately 170 different nationalities. Together with Copenhagen, it constitutes the transnational Øresund Region, the most densely populated area in Scandinavia.

There are 9,9 million people in Sweden. The capital of Sweden, Stockholm, is also the country’s largest city, with more than 850,000 inhabitants. Less than three per cent of Sweden’s land area is built up and forests cover 69 per cent of the country. Sweden is long – some 1,574 kilometers from top to bottom – and can be divided into three major regions: Götaland in the south, Svealand in the middle and Norrland in the north.

The main issue during the conference was the expansion of the network and the further activities. The goal was to find potential members in Asia to be presented in Hong Kong at the next IMSA meeting.

New members at this meeting was Montealegre Asociados from Columbia, represented by Tatiana and Jorge Montealegre, who also did a more extensive presentation of their company. After having strengthened IMSA’s presence in LATAM with members of Chile and Columbia, the goal is to approach additional companies, e.g. in Mexico.

IMSA’s new website was presented by Monika Ciesielska. The new fresh website is a great step forward.

After six years acting as the chairman of IMSA, Cedric Meister decided to step back. IMSA members voted unanimously for the new chairman, Hard Olav Bastiansen from Norway. Congratulations Hard Olav and thank you for taking this important role for IMSA.

The program also included a workshop with Kairos Future, an international consulting and research company, on the theme “Trends in recruitment including Executive Search”. It was good dialogue on what is likely to be expected in the future in the industry.

On the agenda were also “Expectations, Requirements and motivation to be an IMSA-member”. The main target of this session was to sharpen and reshape IMSA’s identity and to get a consensus on IMSA’s values as a basis for further development.

The conference concluded with a visit to the Turning Torso, Malmö’s most famous and tallest building, and then a journey across the Øresund Bridge and sightseeing in Copenhagen
